Heater jammed! What type do you use?
Hi, I know there is another thread on heaters, but I couldn't find it. What type of heater do you use? I use Tronics and Ebos.
I had a tronic stick on today. There is only one fish in the tank, she was hitting the sides of the tank, swimming to the surface then straight down to the bottom then back up, then on her side. I checked, 102 degrees!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Barb:
I have Tronics and Ebos too. I'm now trying Won pro heat and have had good luck with the two I purchased in April (can't say the same about the Via Aqua).
I don't think there is a consensus on heaters. . . .

I have a 250 watt titanium pro II, I dont use it that much as i bought it for an auxilary heater, but i like it. It has a 3 digit temperature display which has to be calibrated.

I bought mine from Aqua Cave - banner below. I bought one digital and one not. Both are still working after 3 1/2 months. One Via Aqua is still working - the other quit after 6 weeks.
Yes I have had a heater stick on . . . and a fatality. :'(

Sorry to hear Carol.... it's pretty scary to see the thermometer over 100 degrees! I wish they could figure out a way to make a good heater that doesn't jam on, even if it costs a little more.

Sometime is better to use 2 -100W heater instead of 1-200w. if you have enough electrical plugs. I's more costly but safer.

I'
scotzve had 3 Via Aqua's quit in one week - 2 on the same day. > I sent 2 back to the Manufacture and they replaced them. I like the heater with the temp control on the outside - but I sure don't their track record ! BTW I had these heaters for 6 months before they stopped working. It will be interesting to see if these stop working in 6 month's. I will let you know !

...how 'bout the Second Nature Acura heaters? Easy to set or change settings, maintains a constant temp, can maintain the higher temps we need, and are very reliable - never had a bad experience with 'em...

Do visitherms go up to 92 - 93?
I was told by a salesperson that they max out at 86.
