Try aging it by using a container, heater and air pump to circulate the water for 24 hours. Test the ph before and after. This will dissapate the C02 and stablize your ph. Dont bother trying to adjust the ph! Not worth it! My ph is 8.2!
Hy there, I have a pretty constant PH reading of 7.6. Is there some way to keep it there or maybe even just get to come down a little and keep it there. It seems as though as time goes by it gets higher and higher.

In discus limbo atm! So much to do and so little time!
I've done this and the ph just slightly rises. The tap is at 7.4-7.6 and after a day or two 7.8. Is it okay to have discus at 8.2!
I put peat (rinsed well) in a corner bubble filter. My pH from tap is 7.0, in my tanks all is a constant 6.5.
being that I'm in the Azores, do you know where I can order some aquarium safe peat? Also, how often do you change out the peat?
My pH is 7.8 + and my discus do just fine
I raise and keep all my discus at 8.2 ph! No problems at all. Check out my yahoo albums when you get a chance!
Believe me, its much easier not having to adjust your ph. Been there, done it! Tried everything except having to resort to RO which I will primarily use for breeding instead.

agree with the others about not having to worry, but, do you by chance have any substrate in the tank that could be causing the rise? Certain stones, rocks, or gravels can increase the ph
sounds good. I don't really wanna mess around with my ph anyway. lots of distraction. I think with the regular water changes, my ph will be stable at about 7.6. All should go well. Thanks for all your info. Oh, and no Cosmo, I don't have any substrate in my tank. All bare with a piece of driftwood and a backround. Quite simple. I was thinking of draping some philodendrons on the lid and letting the roots grow into the tank. I've seen some real nice set-ups with philodendrons.
I have philodendrons in most of my tanks
Carol,
Do you have some pics of the tanks with philodendrons. I really do admire these type of set-ups. Thanks
Carol,
Do you have a pic of this tank? not just the end? I have never seen a tank that you can place the filter on the side like that.
Hi Frank:
I had this tank built to fit a counter top in my kitchen
Awesome! I love that set-up. I was curious, do you change your water straight from the tap or from stored/aged water? I've seen the pictures with the storage containers but I thought I read somewhere that you go straight from the tap. Maybe I read wrong.
