I have 7 3-4 inch discus from kenny's Nov shipment growing in a 75 gal bare bottom with pennplax 1000 canister and 2 sponges.
I am planning on introducing amphibious plants like a riparium. I am going to cut up some small soda bottles, to make hanging planters. I will use a few amphibious plants like lucky bamboo, umbrella sedge etc. I don't want to go for potted plants yet as I am not planning on having my aquarium lighting up for atleast a few months (lazy me). I am also concerned if I am going to make big water changes, the CO2 in the water might not be enough to help the submerged plants grow fast enough to affect the nitrate levels. My logic for amphibious plants being that they can suck up the CO2 from the air.....
If possible, I might even stick in a couple of water lily bulbs. I was thinking about fresh water mangroves, but I need to read up on them more before I do something like that.
