Suggestions? My buddy bought the pond used and build a cedar box around it. Never had a pond before and I'm not sure where I want to start. :)

Cool Dan, How big is it? Am I correct in thinking this is a pond liner which would generally to placed in the ground like a pool? With it in a cedar box you could place it anywhere outside or you thinking inside? I would suggest water proofing the cedar box.

Bill knows ponds for sure.

Pat - My friend already weather proofed it but good thinking. Yes, it is a pond liner (the hard plastic shell). I always imagine pond liner like a thick nylon bag that you can expand to any shape but I know I'm wrong in thinking that lol. I haven't decided if I can make room inside yet, so lets keep suggestions to outside stuff. :) I was told it was 120 gallons so not a mammoth or anything.

At that size, you could run a cannister or a large sponge.Assuming your going to do goldfish or koi, when you pick them out, remember your going to be looking at them from the top,so if you pick them out of a tank, what might look good from the side can look crappy from the top.

Placing it inside will create too much humidity. Outside will be good, Koi will out grow this pond pretty quickly.

Dan, you could always choose Shubunkins goldfish only get 12inches long when fully grown and they don't get as large as koi 24 " to 36" long when fully gown, but are just as colorful as koi and they have variety of single tail fin of different shaped tail fins which makes them an interesting variety of colorful goldfish to keep......Just a thought...Al from Omaha
