Hi everyone, I've been lurking around this forum for a while. Reading about discus with a view to getting some myself.

So about two weeks ago I finally did it!
I have a 425 litre tank with a sump holding 80 litres of actual water.

So I ended up with 8 discus, 4 are slightly larger than the other 4. I bought from a retailer I've been using for a while with my other fish.

Tank is low tech planted, very few plants. Which I intend to remove when I get some more bogwood. Easier to keep the sand base cleaner then. I know bb tanks seem to be the way to go but I'm fastidious about maintenance.
Currently changing around 90-100 litres of water a day.
Feeding a discus block which has beef heart in the morning, got discus pellets and some flake to mix things up during the day. Various other live food frozen blocks

I've been doing my best not to make any assumptions and look after these expensive fish.

I know lots of people have posted the cardinal rules etc all over the forum, but if there is any "don't forgets" I'll gladly hear them again.

Welcome to Simply Discus.

Very nice looking discus. As far as the water changes go, you should be changing up to 50% (200 liters) per day to help maximize their growth potential. Since you have just over 500 liters combined 200 liters would be the minimum.

What type of filtration is in your sump?

Good luck.
