So tomorrow is the arrival of my first ever discus guys :) getting 6 juveniles for my 55 gallon...ill be like a kid in a candy shop...nervous as well and know it'll be a steep learning curve and probably have a few casualties along the way but we all have to start somewhere :)

I wish you luck!:) You're in for lots of fun, enjoyment, satisfaction, heartache, worry and loss of sleep. Your friends/family will think you've lost your mind because of the things you are going to do for "my fish" over the next few months. But, you know it's all worth it. Congratulations!

If you follow the "rules" you should be OK. Enjoy!

Agree with all here. If you are getting good stock and your water is good and you don't panic all will be fine. Discus are hardy despite what every one says as long as you follow all the doos and donts good luck and keep us posted

Good luck man. Be careful though, they are addictive once you get into the swing of it. Hope you have a water changing system like a python. Greatest invention ever.

I don't unfortunately...I looked them up on the Internet how do you heat the water up to 82 if ur putting it straight from the tap into your tank ??

On my non-discus tank I just adjust the hot and cold of the faucet so that it feels close to the temp of the tank water by touch. Then as I am filling I adjust as needed based on my digital thermometer in the tank. As long as it is +/- 1-2 degrees of the tank before filling you should be ok IMO.
