I have been hearing mixed reviews about this stuff and was wondering if any of you guys have used it and if it worked or not.

It works but depending on your bioload you may need a second or possibly a third addition of TetraSafeStart. If you add too much I do not think that will cause any problem.

Does all the bacteria that you add go away when you do a water change?(liquid bacteria)

You don't do water changes while you are cycling with the bacterial starters

Im using it to cycle a quarantine tank. I need to add fish to it immediately. So I cant do water changes in order for the product to work properly

We hope the bacteria establish themselves in the filter. They also are all around the tank. I do not know how long it takes for the bacteria to establish but I would certainly turn off the filters if I did a water change. Why don't you call or contact Tetra products to see what they say and please post their response.

They say in the directions no water changes as the dormant bacteria attaches and grows you don't want to disturb it until the colony is established.

Correct, you might want to try the pure aquarium balls then as they continuously release the bacteria

With TetraSafe how long before a water change? (Just asking)

With TetraSafe how long before a water change? (Just asking)

10 days to 2 weeks. Usually I don't use fish to cycle. I add ammonia and the safe start and just keep an eye on the parameters until I have 0 nitrites and some nitrates and that 2-3ppm ammonia can be reduced to 0ppm in 24 hours.

I used the tetra product to start my last two tanks months apart. One 92 gal. and one 120 gal. I added the product and immediately added fish and never looked back. I was doubtful and had purchased an additional bottle just in case because I had never done such a thing, but never had to use it. The readings for ammonia and nitrite were zero from the beginning.
