Hello, i found this in my garage today while cleaning out one of my other tanks. I'm not sure If it's 100 pecent ammonia, I don't see any ingredients label, is that because It's 100? Never used pure ammonia for a fishless cycle so maybe someone more experienced can give me a quick hand.

Here is the bottle.

I only see "no phosphorus" on the label. Give it the old shake test to see if it foams.

Doesn't look like 100% to me, based on the mixing directions for laundry of 'one cup to a gallon of water'. Sounds like the more common 10 % mix to me. But to be sure, you could do a test of it, by adding just a few drops of it into a cup of water & testing it. If it registers any type of toxic level of ammonia, like 2-3 ppms or so, you've got the pure stuff. If the test shows a very low reading, or nothing at all, it's not.

Did a quick test and it looks to be in the 5ppm range? so does this mean It's a go? =]

Yes, if you just added a 2-3- or 4 drops, and it registered 5 ppms of ammonia, then I believe you have the pure stuff.
Still seems like a lot for doing laundry though, based on those directions - but hey - I don't do a lot of laundry - LOL !!!

If it foams do not use it. Foaming means it has surfactants. Do a web search on clear ammonia.

It does not foam, just has tiny bubbles when the shaking is done. Normal?

Yes. The bubbles should dissipate fairly quickly though

A quick check on the web says it does contain surfactants. But you can call the 1-800 number on the bottle and ask to make sure. Surfactants is like pouring soap into your fish tank so I would double check to make sure. The shaking the bottle method does not always work I know that one from experience.

You won't find 100% household ammonia as that would be ammonium hydroxide pellets. 10% is janitorial strength, fairly strong. That looks like it might not have surfactants added as per the no phosphates but to be sure shake the bottle and if it does not foam up you are fine. I would just run to Ace and buy the 10% janitorial ammonia for $5
