I'm not too too good with computers either but the easiest way to do it seems to be photobucket for here. it's a free account. upload your pics there... then once they are completely uploaded then you'll see a URL code (each picture will be in a little frame in a library on photobucket once loaded. the bottom right of those frames will say "IMG" and to the right of that you'll see a portion of the URL code... just left click once on any portion of that URL code so it turns blue, right click, copy, and then go back to the simply discus frame and paste it into the quick response). hell, give it a practice try.

If you don't want to open a photobucket account then go to the reply box but click on the advance reply. there's a way to put pics on a gallery there but I'm not familiar with it.

As for video, it's been a while since I've done that but I opened a YouTube account, uploaded the video there, then copied the code to that into the quick response (I think... I f not then I might've just copied the link and posted it into the quick response). Play around with that and see if you can get any where. If not, then I'll try to help you out more.

Well as you can see I didn't get a pic on the post reply. Very frustrating because I need to learn to copy and paste. Please help!

In photobucket go to the picture and use the box on the right hand side of the picture with the IMG code. Place your mouse in that box, click in the box which should copy the link then paste it here in the reply box by pressing the control and V buttons on the keyboard at the same time.

Pat,Qintin, Elliot, I must be completely a dumb ***. When you look at the three pics that I have put on Photobucket there is no URL code on the pic but rather to the right of the screen there is a IMG code and when I left click on that it says copied. Where is it copied so I can paste it somewhere??? I did click the pic and then dropped it to my icons at the bottom of my Mac. Then I attempted to insert it into the box requiring a URL code. Nothing happened. So frustrating. I will try again. I must have tried for two hours last night and finally gave up. I have the most beautiful 4 sub adult White Butterflies from Miranda and six Silver Pigeons from Hans and want to show everyone but it seems impossible to do. I will try this morning but don't have a lot of time because I have to work. Thanks for trying to help me.

Yay, you've figured out which code you need on photobucket and it's copying the code for you!

Here's the next step, and this is easy, I promise.

After you see the "copied" message on photobucket, immediately come back to this page.

Go to the reply box underneath this post. Click inside it, then right click your mouse. A small menu will pop up. Move your mouse to hover over the item that says "paste". Left click on "paste". That will add the code from photobucket right to your reply.

It should look like this: some-sort-of-address-from-photobucket in the reply box, but the part in between where I put some-sort-of-address will be the actual URL/address of the location of your picture.

Now just click on Post Quick Reply and you are done.

I've tried to follow your directions. I have a photo bucket account the pic are there but I simply can't download them here in the quick reply. I have tried. I guess it is time to the apple store!

Really depressing. I'm old but not that old that I should be able to do this!!!!

Maybe I haven't belonged to the forum to be able to post pics? Oh well...

You are good on that score. Can you be more descriptive on where you are getting stuck?

Rudustin

I'm on a mac notebook. I have the account on Photo bucket but I cannot seem to copy and paste correctly I think? When I do copy something I drag it to the bottom of my screen and then go back to the forum page and then attempt to paste it into the forum quick reply box and with that drag underneath the item I am dragging from either my own photos on my computer or from Photobucket there is a cloud like icon beneath the item and when I attempt to drag it into the box it it sort of imitates a puff of smoke and disappears.

What you doing might work for a local copy on a mac notebook but with the photo in photobucket you want to copy the link to the picture to the quick reply box here. Can you go to a picture you want to include here in photobucket and copy the web address in your browser here in a post. Another way is to copy the link in the IMG box (fourth box down) on the right hand side of the picture into the quick reply box here

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 08:50 PM
I just went to photobucket. I see the fourth box. I'm sorry but I am confused about how I can copy it to my browser? I clicked on that box and it immediately said copied! Copied where?????

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 08:53 PM
When I look at bottom of this page that I'm on it says that I can that IMG code is on but I'm not sure I am allowed to post pictures. Do I need to upgrade my membership to this site to that?

Second Hand Pat

On a windows PC it is called the clipboard. On a mac I do not know what it is called. Do you know how to paste text? If so, paste into the Quick Reply box.

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 08:55 PM
sorry, usually my typing is much better than that but frustration is causing me to be a bit too quick. I would really like to be able to just post a picture into the reply but I have tried numerous times to do it.

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 08:57 PM
I attempted to do that with the text in the fourth box on the bottom of Photo Bucket and was unable to do so.

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 08:57 PM
the item in the box simply disappeared and the word copied appeared.

Ok, tomorrow I will text my daughter and find out how to paste on a mac notebook. One more question if you please. Does your mouse have buttons with popup menus? as in you click the button to see the popup? If so, is paste on any of those popup menu selections?

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 09:03 PM
Yes. I have a sensor mouse not a mouse like on a desk top. Yes, when I click on this window for example on the right hand of the mouse there is a a box that appears with Cut, Copy, Paste.

Rudustin
10-20-2013, 09:04 PM
I really would like to be able to do this and I appreciate any help that you can give me. Once again thanks for your patience.

Second Hand Pat
10-20-2013, 09:06 PM
Use that box and see if it will paste the link from the IMG box on photobucket here in the quick reply box. The cursor will need to be placed in the quick reply box before you select the paste selection on the popup menu.

These are White Butterflies from Chicago Discus and this picture was taken almost a month ago. They are nearly five inches and the smaller ones are Silver Pigeons from Hans that are much younger than the WB's. They have grown so much since then an I already have the WBs pairing off and cleaning areas for breeding.

When you have just the link you can use the Insert Image icon to wrap your link with the IMG tags. It looks like the filmstrip above the quick reply button

Thank you. I have actually a lot of Discus. This is a sixty-five gallon with sump filter. I also have two twenty gallon longs and a 125 gallon show tank. I will take pics of that sometime and send them to you. I am new in the hobby and have learned so much about discus from this forum. I tried many years ago and had no idea what I was doing and bought a lot of discus from Jack Wattley. I actually would go to Ft. Lauderdale because I live in Miami and hand pick the fish. I kept losing them. Now I have discus that five years old to nine months old. They seem to thrive and they are very special to me. It is so nice to be able to show them off a little by posting pictures and I want to thank you very much for taking the time to tutor me through this. I shall try to take more pictures soon and post them soon. The best to you Pat.
