Trying to figure out how to set up my new (used) reef ready drilled 65 gallon with wet/dry system. So show me yours and tell me all about it.
What media, sponges etc do you have in it?
If your tank is drilled do you have anything over the intake?
Did you do anything to keep noise levels down?
How do you know how much water to put in the wet/dry?
Did you find any helpful guides out there? Wet/dry filtration for dummies?
Looks like I have picture posting abilities now so I'll take some pics of mine when I get home.

I have a 3 chamber sump, first chamber (over flow drains to this chamber) has course filter material then white filter floss on top of a plastic perforated stand (keeps it off the bottom of the sump) this drains to chamber 2 via overflow weir which has about 8 litres of bio balls this drains to chamber 3 via overflow weir which has the return pump and heater with 2 bags of purigen and 2 bags of ceramic rings. It has a drilled overflow in the tank that was very noisy (Gurgling) I fixed this by making a stockman silence with fittings from the hardware store. The only noise is the escaping air from the overflow in the first chamber which is acceptable (it is a display tank in my Lounge room)
I’m about to change the setup to move the bio balls to chamber 1 there is space under the filter floss for most of them, and convert chamber 2 to a moving bed filter setup with K1 Kaldnes bio media circulated with an air stone using the 60/40 rule I think I can get about 5 litres of K1 in this chamber. The water level in the sump is determined by the height of the overflow weirs

I'm wondering if I should redo the plumbing, if that would help with the noise? The return pipe has a hole drilled in it at the very top where the elbow bends. The water running down from there is where I think a lot of the noise is coming from. I'm also not sure if it's right the the overflow only fills about half way as you can see in the picture above. Every so oven the water level fluctuates which causes a loud bubbling noise.

look up durso stand pipe. I installed in my overflow box, and water noise is minimal. very quiet.

I got 120gal sump divided in 3 sections. first section has poret filters for mechanical filter (1 3" 30 psi and 1 2" 10 psi filter) and also has heaters and ghost shrimps and snails to eat food that got in. then it goes into TON of bioballs(60gal volume) in second section. and finally to 3rd section where I house ph probe, return, seachem matrix(for more biomedia), auto topoff floatvalves, seeded sponge filters/bio wheels and 18W UV sterilizer. (I may add purigen in future in 3rd section).
