Has anyone done a planted tank with carpeting? What kind did you use?

my suggestion to you JoseRivera. Go wish something else, not DHG nor baby tears. this seems to be what everyone and their mom does. While it does look beautiful, it gets quite boring looking through TPT and seeing the same tank over and over and over bc everyone does the same thing. Do something different like dkeef said...dwarf sag, or glosso or microsword, or even something more rare, or do a moss carpeting. I have a small area in the center of one of my tanks with swom dwarf sag, now it isn't fully carpeted yet but I do think its very pretty. that stuff that people sell by the nodes hydrocotyl or something is also pretty as a carpeting.

I agree with the sentiments on the Baby Tears. It requires a good deal of light to carpet, or else it grows upwards more than sideways. I like Dwarf Sag, and Cryptocoryne parva. The later of which is a nice slow grower, low light and handles high temperatures nicely.

I guess it really depends on what you consider carpet. Dwarf sag looks good, but I'd call it more of a low growing type plant. I had it in my last planted tank, but more in the middle and sides with dwarf hair and baby tears more to the front to make the scape look more textured. I didn't seem to have a problem with the baby tears growing taller rather than spreading, but it had pretty high light (8 x 54W T5 bulbs) on it so perhaps that makes the difference.

Baby tears is what I used on my old planted tank in the past.
