Can someone tell me the average price at which the NADA show fish are auctioned off for? Does anyone remember how much Hans's show fish went for?

Most of the fish don't actually get auctioned. They are sold sometime over the weekend. People see a discus they like and ask the owner for a price. Then the fish stay in the tank till Sunday morning. The Han's Show fish went for around $250 which was a bargain!! $200 to $300 would probably be a good range but since they were all sold privately that is a guess.

Thank you. And is it possible to obtain one of the show fish even if you can't attend the show?

The best way to do that might be to contact the Sponsor/show participant ahead of time and work something out. It's not uncommon to have show fish arrive and already be sold but the majority are sold on site during the show weekend. NADA can assist with shipping fish out after the show as needed.

I would think so, but that would be worked out between you and whoever you work with to buy it, NADA wouldn't be involved in that unless y'all needed some assistance getting the fish out of Austin.

Be better if you just came to the show I think ;)

Come to the show....You will be glad you did. It is one of the most fun packed activities you can do. You can also learn a huge amount about discus. Even if you are highly successful you can still lean by how other people do it.

the best part is SEEING these fish in PERSON!!!

when people say they are happy with their fish, they dont care if they are stunted/bad shape and they are not trying to breed or grow up show fish..

they say this cuz they have never seen discus at NADA show.. WOW!!

they are AMAZING!!

can't wait for JUNE!!

best part is just talking with people who ALSO like discus for WHOLE WEEKEND! :)
so if you can't make it.. don't worry.. there were be another in 2016, you can wait.. right??! :) :) :)

No.

There was a lot of wheeling and dealing there between nada members... alot of the fish were sold by friday.

Also.. fish owners not posted.. on tanks.. so judges don't know who owns fish...
But people ask quietly. . And word gets around ..

So for someone not there.. u would be at disadvantage for trying to buy one..

Whatever not sold from showfish people don't want to take back.. some juVIes were for sale last time and some angels..

Auction lasted like 20 min..

All the good fish sold privately before hand..
Auction Sunday for the leftovers

Of course, it's more fun being there in person but I wish I could go. Wife and kids are stopping me. If anyone willing to help me please let me know.

The last auction was short but a lot of fun. John and I were bidding 0n a couple of fish. He got one and I got the other. Shipping back to Canada was another matter.

And if that is not enough head to Fredericksburg. Main street is nothing but little shops. You can spend an entire weekend there and still not see everything.

Thank you. I'm sharing all these with her soon, don't want to make it too obvious. She'll know then that I have some hidden agendas:)
