I have a 7 months old 75 gallon aquarium that is heavily planted.
I would like to add adult wild discus to the tank, and would like to change most/all of the fish that are currently in the tank.
From what ive read, discus could on be kept in a mated pair or preferably 6. I do not intend to breed these fish anyway.
The question is if i go with 6 discus, how many inches of fish would i be able to add to the tank.
Tankmates that are currently in the 75 gallon which i would definitely not remove is a pair of A.agassizii and a pair of A.macmasteri.
Or should i just go with a mated pair and have alot of dither fish.

Welcome to SD

With adequate filtration and water changes, you could keep 7-8. Please read the beginner section before ordering fish.
1) 1 discus per 10 gal
2) Order from same source at same time
3) Read the plant section, water quality section, and tank mate sections- these could prevent some costly mistakes

One discus per 10 gallons. Beyond that , other fish require additional filtration, but they would be limited to small fish like cardinals, rams, bristlenose pleco. Say you have a 55gallon tank with 5-6 discus. If you have at least double the recommended filtration for the tank and keep up frequent water changes you could add a small school of cardinal tetras and a couple of pairs of rams without over stressing the system.

my filtration is for 120 g tank.
so tht would mean i can keep 4 apistogramams and a school of cardinals?

Should be fine if you keep up water changes and keep filter media clean.

Are 4 inch discus considered juvenile or what?
