I am FINALLY ready to put Discus into my 187 (60x24x30). I have been reading up on quarantine procedures and find that discus should be added in groups of 6 minimum. I am considering 8-10 fish of about 4 inches.

If I put ten 4” fish into a 20 gallon quarantine tank for 4-6 weeks will this stunt the fish?

In my opinion yes.I would want at least a 55 for that number of fish, and I would rather do 12 in a 75.

do you already have fish in the tank now?

If the fish are already 4" I would put them right into your 187 if there are no fish in it now and it is cycled. Before you buy 4" fish see how much more expensive 5"and 6" are.

I'd like to see a pic of that if they are.

I already have several fish in the 187 including 12 black neons, 8 angels, 6 geaophagus, 7 Denison barbs (roseline shark), 6 corys, 1 BN pleco. Tank has pool sand substrate, wood, rock and plastic plants. Filter is a 40 gallon wet/dry sump.

Would it be OK to add 5 fish now to QT and additional 5 fish later?
