Basically all these remove ammonia and convert them to nitrites and nitrates. My query is some keep plants in the sumps. Plants are good to convert nitrites into nitrates.Which plants are best suited for growing in the sump and helps best in maintaining a good quality of water. I think to grow beneficial bacteria in Kaldness takes quite a while at least six months and water has to be severely agitated. Compared to that do plants take so long to for quality water if kept in sump and is there any difference between wide leaved plants like the banana plant from say a elodea or Crypts. Can any living creatures apart from plants like snails, shrimps be kept in the sump.
