NaCl bath question

Do people do the Sodium Chloride salt bath (1-2TBS/gal) regularly? You know, like giving your discus an exfoliating spa treatment.

To my knowledge it is only done to cure extreme cases of parasites in connection with sterilizing a tank. If you remove the slime coat and have parasites in the tank, the fish has no defense against them.

I meant lower concentration, .01% to .1%, for preventive measure?

Most sd members do not routinely use salt. Pristine water is preferred.
