I am assuming that the pvc provides the return water. Does it simply just spray forward from the position shown? Does this make a mess at all? I'm curious.

The set up is to drain all the tanks

As Tim stated it's to drain water. In the photo Tim disconnected the drain PVC pipe with strainer that goes into the tank. The way it's setup you can connect and disconnect the drain pipe.

The system works on siphon assisted by a pump that drain 1100 GPH to speed the draining process.

Would you mind expanding on that? I'm just not seeing it from the pic. I'm working on a draining system as well which is why I ask.

Now I get it. I was missing that last piece because the OP didn't have it. How do you keep a siphon with such a system?

Siphon is retain where the stop valve is close as shown below. When the stop valve is open siphon will will continue to drain the tank. There's also a main stop valve that is by the pump.

This next pictures shows siphon retain in the rest of the PVC pipe when the main stop valve is close. At all times there's always water in the PVC pipe which retain the siphon.

Im doing fishroom build this weekend.
Do u lose siphon if water is drained below strainer?
If u lose it then how do u get back?
How do u return water back in?

Also what did u use for the white background?
Still debating to paint or use attach background color.

I thought my plan was set but now its all over the place!

Do you have to prime it or something the first time you use it?

Yes for the first time. Simple, while having the main shutoff valve shut off and all other shutoff valve open go to the furthest tank you have setup and stick a hose into the top end of the PVC pipe as shown below. Let it fill up until you see some water coming out of the other PVC pipe. when that happens stop the water and shut off all shutoff valve to each tank. Now that waters is in the pipe it's prime and ready to be use.

Kalel, what if you only have one tank? Can this still be used? From my understanding the way to prime it is;
1. Attach vinyl
2 fill with with water through vinyl
3. After it's filled detach vinyl and attach the PVC piece that goes into tank.
4. Open valve to drain

I feel like I have the steps wrong though? Thanks

Yes. My first tank was a 65 gallon. I had just a simple PVC pipe like the one in the tank below hookup to a stop valve and holes. I simply run the holes to the tub or toilet and turn on the stop valve to start draining. You never lost siphon unless you let all the water complete drain out from the pipe/tube.

Thanks, so you attach the PVC that goes into the tank to the other end after you fill the other end completely with water? Does the part that sticks in the tank have to be filled with water? How long did it take to drain your tank?

No the part that goes into the tank does not need to be fill with water. It will be fill with water once you put it in the tank ;). The siphon stays prime between the stop valve to the top of the PVC pipe that the PVC elbow goes on.

So you don't need to glue the end of the peice going into the tank to the other end right?

Correct. No need to glue the top elbow and PVC going into the tank.
