I've used fluval stuff before. It's great but a little pricier
Al, what's going on?
try Micracle Pot soil then cap it with sand. is there lot of sunshine thru out the day? I can see lot of algae.

So what are you going to hear it in winter ? Use sand only and root tab.

My 10 gallon shrimp tank has been up since last September. WC 10% every week, and the light has been on everyday from 8AM until 10AM. I haven't seen any algae or hair algae in the tank yet. The soil is good too. You can tell by my plants

I mean 8AM to 10PM
Trung.
For outdoor use and easy plants, no need to break your bank savings for ADA soil which it will breakdown into mud . Don't know how you will connect to discus tank but discus waste water is your fertz so sand is ok.

Very nice tank Trung, 10% a week would be great but with discus it would be much lager water change, Tony my tank is on the other side of my window, and your write very pricie, pumice stone is what i am looking at, is the same as Seachem pond matrix, but cheaper and some kind pond potting soil on the bottom.
