Sintered glass is extremely porous spheres, about 1/4 to 3/8 inch in diameter, often used in filter media. Eheim's version is among the best, but as with all sintered glass filter media, the pores get plugged up during use, so eventually, to regain full efficiency, once the pores are plugged up to certain extent, one should discard some of the media and replace with new. However, there must be some way to clean it, to rid the spheres of some or all of the bacteria and debre
trapped within the pores, maybe by boiling it, by soaking it in bleach, whatever. What say you, all you experts, how can sintered glass filter media be given new life, by cleaning its pores?
