Well finally finished moving and I am setting my tanks back up.
First up is the 180 gallon in the dining room.
It will be a slow process with my work schedule but it will be well worth the wait.

Got the sand today. Leslie pools filter sand(mystic white)
So far rinses really well.
Will be adding sand and driftwood shortly.

Sand in and driftwood in (a few starter pieces of pathos)
Not the lights I will be using but just testing the look.

Nice, I'm in the process of setting up my 220 gal too. Will be posting that for sure.
One question, are you going to cover the top? Discus like to jump...

I have always had it open with my discus but I have egg crate that's cut to fit the opens. But I have never had to use it.
Plus I have the original glass lids they are still brand new

Lucky, I had 3 deaths from jumpers. The first one I didn't have a lid, last 2 I had jump through a 1/2 inch wide opeing along the back of my tank.

3 breading adults gone ***SON of ah *****

When I had my original 125 it was open top (only because I drop the lids) but it stayed that way for over a year.
I will probably use the egg crate to be on the safe side.

Still working on the skin from the stand but I used media from one if my other tanks and transferred a few discus to the new tank.

These discus were rescues from the local pet store I couldn't bare to leave them there , figured they have a better chance with me.
Not sure if I am going to leave the tank like this or am I going to set it up for all one kind of discus.
Thinking about moving my group of Wayne ng blue knights to this tank.
Plenty of time to decide for now I will let these guys enjoy themselves.lol

I like the effect of the sand substrate. Is it much harder to siphon than gravel?

Actually it's pool filter sand and it's heavy enough to siphon. I siphoned it just like regular substrate and hardly lose any at all.
