Hi,

I'll start off by giving you the details of my tank.

170 x 60 x 60cm, 612l
Filter. eheim 2080 with 2 pre-filters

Community tank with 2 adult discus, 1 ram, 20 cardinal tetras and 11 Sterbai, 10 discus 6-8cm.
Tank is planted, few plants, gravel.

Temperatur 29°C

I feed 5-6 times a day, Beefheart, bloodworm, white mosquito larve, artemia and discus granulat.
I change 100l of water every day.

My question is, will it be possible to grow the small discus to their full size in this environment?

Also, does anyone have a foolproof method of changeing water without flooding the living-room?

Kind Regards
John

Nope but u will get a decent size discus still if u keep the water super clean with double the ammount of water changes compared to a BB tank and feed them well. But its a gamble.

I have a spare 200l I could use, but that would mean reverting to the "bucket method" for water changes. :(

Buy a python or aqueon water changer. If you don't need to age then you can fill tank up with that straight from tap (after adding prime or safe to the tank of course)
How many gallons is your tank? It is much harder to grow out discus in a planted tank, I would suggest growing the juvies out in a barebottom tank until they hit about 5 inches and then putting them in your planted tank.
