Sold some adults discus to made way for 6 small discus in my tank, which houses 6 adults. These 6 small discus were housed in a 2ft quarantine tank previously.
Have to add some 2kg of biohome media first.

Surprised that they get along so well, and the adults are not bullying the little ones at all, esp during meal time. None of the small discus are stressed or hiding, and they are eating very well.

Will have to give up some more discus once the small discus have grown up.
Here are some pics and a video.

Thanks. The blue diamond juveniles are barely 3 inches only,(2.5inch when i first got them) compared to a 6.5 inch yellow. The red marlboro juveniles are slightly larger, growing up to 4 inches already, from the 3 inches when i first got them.

A lot will depend on the temperament of your fish, so it's really a crap shoot. They may start out all playing nice, but as your smaller ones grow and start to approach the size of the older ones, this can be when the aggression starts.

You have very nice fish.

I personally would not mix the sizes. It typically is a bad idea. I'm not telling you that you can't do it or that it can't be done, I just wouldn't recommend it. Everything may be fine for a while, but usually when you realize some are falling behind its too late.

Good luck with your tank buddy.

I have been really fortunate so far. The smaller ones actually learnt to behave better in this tank with adults. In the smaller tank, they are really bully each other, until one of them turn rather shy, and started hovering around the top. But in this tank with adults, the bullied one got respite from the bullying, and started eating again !!!

Thanks. My fishes are just pet quality fishes. I have increased the water change to the big tank to 4 times 80% a week, and siphoning 3 times daily. Hopefully that will be good for the fishes. They are so used to my hand being in the tank now, i think they look at my hand like another fish.

Thanks. It's a small 4ft tank. You can see the pic here

It's not a month yet, but here's an update anyway.
They are all still happily eating and co-existing with each other.
All of them have grown quite a bit.
In the first pic, you can compare the size of the juvenile red with a 6.5" Yellow.

In the sec pic, you can see the size of the same red compared to the blue diamond juvenile.

One of my yellow is orangey at the fringe. It ate tetra bits many months ago, but i have since fed all my fish only beefheart mix with no additives.

Nice fish! how big is the aquarium?

You started using beefheart exclusively since you got them?

Cheers:D

When i had the juveniles, I fed them exclusively on beefheart with no additives. I suspect they snack on the hikari sinking food meant for my cories when the lights are off.

Depending on tank space, (always limited for me) I will grow out smaller fish with big fish. If the sizes are really disproportionate, full growns with 2" or slightly smaller, the big guys really don't seem to pay any attention or have any aggression to the little ones and their not in competition.

The older literature used to mention growth inhibiting hormones from full grown Discus effecting had that could effect growing fish. I have no idea of it's really true or not.

It's been a month since they have joined the adults, and here are some captured moments of them just before feeding.
I usually siphon out any dirt on the bottom before feeding, to make sure they are only eating good stuff.
Still ravenous as ever, they actually anticipate their feeding time, when all of them started coming forward towards the glass.

They have all grown, and still get along very well with each other. Their appetite is fantastic. Here's couple of updated pictures I just took, with the size comparison to my yellow discus, which is 17cm long.
The reds are near adults now, and the blues needs to grow up more still.

17cm is including the tail or just the body?

Thanks. I think the yellow discus is a golden pigeon, but I can't be sure, because I got it from a neighbourhood LFS and it came without label.

That is a gorgeous assortment.
Thanks.

Thank you for your kind comments. Just rinsed the box filter, and scrubbed the driftwoods, which collected so much gunk from all the beef heart feeding. Had to do a 200% water change while the fish is house temporarily in another tank. But seeing them grow is rewarding for all that effort.

The little discus have all grown to sub-adults, and 2 blue diamonds have found home, which also help reduce the bioload.
The tank got simplified yet again, and a pot of crypt bonsai got removed. Spacing between the driftwood is increased to allow the discus to swim through them easily.
Here's couple of images.
