I humbly disagree :) Whilst lesser gear lacks some of the control that a decent DSLR has, even a camera phone can yield acceptable results, particularly for sharing on the web ...

Cameras do make a difference. But knowing how to use your camera is the difference maker.

Some of the newer phones have the capabilities to outperform DSLR's in smaller formats now. Great shots everyone.

Cell phones are always handy for the fun moments, like when your cat wants to help you while you play in the worm bins.

Why do my pics show up as thumbnails and not full-sized like everyone else's?

Why do my pics show up as thumbnails and not full-sized like everyone else's?Because you have uploaded the image to the forum, it is the way the forum s/w works. All the others are hosted offsite, in my case Flickr, in Pat & Stan's Photobucket and in Marnies tapatalk.imageshack.

But if you know what you are doing you can get Simply hosted images to show inline as such ...

You are posting them as attachments. Try uploading them to photobucket and posting the IMG link or what Paul said.

I just couldn't figure out why; now I know. Thanks for the info, folks!

Eric,
One cheat is to do exactly what you do when you upload your pic normally..Then preview your post and open the image in a new window. Next copy the address of the image... in your case, http://forum.simplydiscus.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=83661&d=1412080248

lastly select the "insert image" icon in the tool bar... and past the image web address...

http://forum.simplydiscus.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=83661&d=1412080248

and there you go....

Aha! So those are the mysterious details that Paul alluded to when he said "But if you know what you are doing you can get Simply hosted images to show..." Thanks Al, and all, for the info :)
