I read this post and several similar the other day and was considering trying to make these, it appears to just be a piece of plastic moulding. I was just wondering if anyone had tried this, I was currious about the durabillity and if it works well over time. here are some pics and the link.

I believe Joey shows a video of this working for his tanks that he does not have rims for but still need lids. This should work. If you are scared of it not working, you can always start with acrylic ;)

I like them! I mean, from what I can tell in the pics. But I shelved my glass tops - it's a bit easier to clean the tank without them.

I made a set of sliders for a 90 gal. They work well easy to take apart and clean and cost was 15 to 20 dollars. Lowes will cut glass for free. Once cut I ran emery around edges to dress up.

I put these on my 125 gal AGA a couple weeks back. Project cost me 75.00 and took me 20 minutes and a hack saw to complete. I can't say anything about the durability but the only thing that would wear would be the PVC molding. Worst case scenario in a few years it wears out and it's 3.00$ per 96" piece to replace. Hands down the easiest DIY I have ever done.
