Hi,

I will be using a sump with a water pump which has a hose adapter of 1". I only managed to find lily pipes which are narrower than that. One option is to add a reducer which reduces the hose pipe to a size which fits a lily pipe. But I assume this will restrict and reduce the flow being pushed by the water pump which I would not like.

What other options do you suggest? I thought of adding a "T" connector to the main water pump hose, followed by two reducers and then have to returns going into the tank.

Would that still obtain the same flow and circulation?

thanks

Not sure what a lily pipe is, but cam't you find 1" PVC? Any plumbing shop shoud be able to tell you where to find it if they don't carry it.

Yes I can do it that way, however aesthetically it would look nicer with something like this as an outflow in the tank: http://www.adana.co.jp/en/products/na_filter/lily_pipe/#p01

Cool pipe, but if it's visible it will start to look unsightly to some once it starts building up a slime coat on the inside. If you really want to use it, do as you suggested and split the return line. You'd have to use several to get the same flow rate though.

you can find Barbed Reducing Y connector 3 (from 1x 1" splits into 2x 3/4") . now you have 2 lily pipes even better :)

Do they have connectors to attach it to the hose? If so what size are they? The diameter is a hair larger than 5/8" so you'd have to contend with splitting your 1" hose and then reducing t that somehow. After doing the math, 2 of them will give you just under the same diameter as 1" pipe. If you end up using them post some photos. It would be unique for sure.

A lily pipe can be cleaned. I have lily pipes in my tank that you can see here:

I bought a cleaner from Amazon for like $10 shipped and it works like a charm. The only problem I have sometimes is removing the hose from the inlet pipe. Since they are glass, I am always scared of putting too much pressure on it.
