Hydro Sponge inside HOB

Anyone running ATI Hydro sponge inside Aquaclear HOB filter? I am thinking of converting my filtration from internal filters (Two ATI Hydro Sponge Pro V) to Aquaclear 110. Putting one or both Sponge V inside the AC 110 if it fits. The Hydro sponge pro V can handle high water flow.

i can't picture what are you trying to do and not sure what you can do to improve AC110 better than it is . the only thing i did, used it as prefilter.

Reconfiguring my filtration to use AC110 with Pre-filter Max III on inlet and hydro sponge V inside the body chamber. Would be waste to throw out hydro sponge since bio media already establish.

The hydro V pro sponge can handle more than 200 GPH, so why not continue to use it and stuff it inside HOB. Othwwise I am going with Matrix or CeraMedia Marinepure 1.5' spheres in the AC110.

i see, you want to use it as bio media. If you dont have the original rectangle sponge and media, then it may fit in there but will clog real quick cause max ac110 flow is 500GPH. it's better not to use it.

Got it. I'll stick to biomax that comes with AC110 and maybe just keep one of the sponge V (inside tank) as backup.

Sound like biomax is new, why not keep both in the tank until biomax established/matured.

Yep will use the two existing sponge filter running until Biomax is established.
