Sponge and Mechanical Filtration

For sponge filtration only tank how do you deal with particles and debris flowing in tank beside water change? That is one thing that is bothering me as I am only using sponge and k1 moving bed, there are so much debris floating around all the time.

Do I have to give up having sponge/K1 only setup and add HOB or cannister to get clear looking tank?

If you are vacuuming the bottom and doing regular water changes there shouldn't be debris floating around.
