Jumbo Piwo RT Pair

Chad and I made a stop in New Orleans on the way to the NADA Show in Austin and picked up this pair I bought from Frank (qiyanfeng). Frank got these as juvies from Kraig (Kingdom Come Discus) and did a really great job growing them out. They are very big and thick. I have had them for 8 months now and they have never given any signs of being interested in breeding although they spawned for Frank. They just swam in the tank looking big and pretty. A huge snow storm hit Atlanta today and guess that did the trick.

The first spawn was not successful. They just had the 2nd spawn which went free swimming yesterday but it is only about 25. I will pull them them pretty quickly so they can give it another try.

Larry, do your RTs get real dark when spawning and carrying fry? I have some Stendkers, and they get so darn dark, almost black sometimes, I start to worry that something's wrong. Then I pull the fry and they lighten up in minutes! Is that your experience? Thanks, -Don

Don, I know you asked Larry, but I have 6 Tony Tan RTs and I have the same experience. I get worried why they look black and are hiding in the corner behind some driftwood, then I check and they are fanning eggs. I feel better but still question if maybe they are sick.
