Some Major upgrades coming to SD

Hi all,
I wanted to let you know of some of many changes we have in the works here at SD. We have a alot of things in the works currently being planned out in our administration sections of the forum Which I will discuss latter. What I wanted to tell you know though is that I have decided that its time to seriously upgrade our server here at SimplyDiscus. We have been using the same system a few years now and for me to really achieve what I want for the forum in the upcoming year, the first step is to upgrade our Server. I've finalized my decisions on that and the new server is being built now. In the next few days we will make the switch and transfer over all of SD's Data. If you have trouble logging in during that time,give it a day or so and try again. We have been through this several times in the past and I don't anticipate any issues. I will however maintain the existing server intact until I am sure that the new set up works perfectly.

As all things techie, you can plan for all possibilities but you never know what is going to happen entirely, so please be patient as we make the transition to a bigger,faster,better server system. I'm hoping to have this wrapped up this week.

Hello all,
At this point we are very close to making the upgrade... the new server is online and Simplys files and database are there... and we are testing it out...Im really happy with how it performs.A few more tests and we will be ready to make the complete migration. Maybe latter tonight or tomorrow ..

We are ready to make the move everyone... Early this morning the forum will be down for a bit while we move everything over completely. I will be turning the forum off just before it happens, but at this point 3 am is the magic number.

Its going to be like trading in that old clunker for a hot rod.....I hope:) The test model we have been driving the last few hours was.

Please understand that after we make the move there may be some initial issues when you try to connect depending where you are located. It should resolve it self shortly. Any real problems and the old server is still there for us to reboot... so very little chance of lost data.

Fingers crossed for a safe move..
