Finally got the ball rolling with purchasing a tank and getting part of the stand built. Still plenty more to go, but it's a start. Current planned list is as follows

75g Marineland Tank ( Bought )
Custom Stand ( In Progress )
Two Aquaclear 110 ( Need to purchase )
Eheim 2217 ( Only if needed )
Hydor Pro5 Sponge ( If I can hide it )
Heater ( need to research )
Current Satellite + ( I know I can build cheaper, but want a ready made solution. I don't know if I will do any light heavy plants, so PAR is up in the air. I like the slim aspect since my canopy is planned to be 8" tall )

Stand is based off of RocketEngineer over at ReefCentral. It lets you eliminate the center brace which always seems to be in the way.

Still debating on a very fine layer of sand. Will definitely be some driftwood and possibly river rock if I can find some I like

Cool start. Let us know how it goes.

Is that vinyl paper?

Actually is paneling on the back side, not sure of the material on the front side. You can pick up a sheet of 4x8 from Home Depot for 30 bucks.

Says it's mildew resistant, but I'm still going to seal the backside of it against splashes

Got a little more done.... just some trim work, still working out how I want to do the doors. On the crown molding I used a textured stone paint ( Rustoleum, I really like this stuff ) and then sealed it with a matte clear coat.

Purchased the light, should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Went with the Current Satellite + 48-60" LED, tried ordering some heaters ( two Jager 200 watt ) and the Ranco fror Jehmco today, but they never answered. Called within their hours, guess
store was closed today. For anyone who may know, when purchasing the non-wired ETCI-1, is the probe waterproofed ? If not, how do I go about doing that ?

Still waiting on mod approval from a previous post, but I'll go ahead and add on here. Tried ordering a Ranco controller and couple of heaters from Jehmco yesterday, but could never contact them. Ended up getting the controller though ebay at a good price, still was looking for a good price on the heaters.

John from Jehmco returned my call today, turned out they were closed yesterday from whatever reason. I went ahead and ordered two Jager 200 watt heaters from them and will order some things in the future, super nice people ! I have mostly everything with the exception of driftwood and substrate

Ongoing

Stand ( in progress )
Canopy ( to be started after stand )
Satellite + 48-60 " Ordered
Ranco ETCI Ordered
Jager 200w x2 Ordered
AC 110 x2 Ordered

hope to start cycling within a few weeks...

It has taken me a while to order from Jehmco in the past, and other times I get it in the first go, lol. You never know. They have great prices on their jager heaters. I bought 2 250's myself for my 75g

Received the heaters from Jehmco.... shipping speed was ridiculous. Ordered Saturday, received today. Wish I had a little more patience, I'd have the controller now too. Live and learn.

I say alot of people build one based off a SCT-1000, is that the same as what you built ?

I may build one for the heck of it, I like little projects. On that note, I had a nice surprise come in today. Forgot I had ordered the light, new toy to play with.

Filters and Ranco come tomorrow, picked up some pool filter sand today and light diffuser panel , hoping to get the tank wet this weekend.

Keep us updated Tim. I have been working on my project for a few months now and the hopes of running any water in the system any time soon is laughable :(
