View Full Version : That time of year
Cherry Blossom time in Washington D.C. I always say I wont go again but always talk myself into one or two trips. This year was extremely challenging for me. The crowds were huge even on a weekday sunrise and late evening. And it was very windy so shooting was tough.
All images were with a D810, on a tripod. Macro shots were with a 70-200m with 25mm extension tube +/- a Canon 500D diopter filter. Wide angle with a 24-120mm and some shots with a Lens Baby.

#4 is so gorgeous! Absolutely my favorite.
Thanks Ricardo. That is a dawn shot. The light on the tree was supplied by an NBC camera crew! They were set up to shoot live feeds for the morning show. I didn't have to light paint.

conveys "time" I like how some people appear to be moving in and out of the image..almost like ghosts of past visitors.

#1, 2, and the last are my favorites! But they are all great. This is one of those things I've always wanted to shoot but haven't had the chance. I haven't been to DC in years. Had to of been well before 9/11. I'd love to get up there and not only get the cherry blossoms but also the monuments....just quite the drive.
Matt if you get a chance let me know and I can set it up.
May 8th there is a fly over of WWII planes at the WWII Memorial. I have never photographed planes but we have a group going and a spot staked out!
