If you are in the Philly, Balt., D.C., Southern NJ area or passing through the I95 corridor and you like flowers, Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square Pa.) is a place to spend the day. Purchased, built and donated to the public by the duPont family it is an amazing exhibit both inside and out. I think they cut the grass at night by hand with scissors and no weeds dare grow there.
It is about a two hour drive from where I live and I try to get there 3-5 times a year. You could spend a day just inside. The main Conservatory has about six exhibits extending from the main hall. I was there Fri, a little early for the outside gardens, but still lots to photograph.
( The flowers were with a D810, 105mm macro lens, using extension tubes, 1.4 TC and 5+ diopter for various shots.) Because of previous posts, I played around a lot with DOF, f stops of 4 to 22. All available light, some on tripod and some hand held. (Tripods are allowed by permit inside until noon.)

Very cool Stan! I really enjoy the macro pics and have been experimenting a bit as I have time.

Very cool Stan. The fourth one is my favorite in this set, but that place looks like an absolute winner!

Stan,
Thats place looks amazing, never been there, but have been to the NY Botanical gardens a few times.

Pictures are great!..like the first one best though.

You mentioned permits for tripods? Is there a fee and is it something you need to register for ahead of time?

Thanks all.
Yes there is an entry fee. To use a tripod inside you need to get there early to have time as no tripods are allowed inside after 1200. Outside is fine any time. After you pay to get in there is a desk to get a tripod permit (can't remember if there is a fee, I have a pass:) )
In the summer there is a spectacular water lily exhibit.
