Hi Anthony,

Welcome to SD. You're buying from the Best and Greatest SD sponsor (IMHO and for me personally).

Always qt, esp. if you have other discus/tropical fish that you will be mixing them with. If tank is new, then you don't have to do qt. Don't worry about the ph (ph is around 7 in shipping bag), gh, or kh<<<leave them alone. Just acclimate them 30-45mins (I do mine for 45mins-1hr) by floating bags to get bag temp to tank temp, drop and plop. Try not to get shipping water in your tank. Hope that helps.

10/gal is too small, even for juvies. How big and how many are you looking at? You can qt upto 10pcs of 2-3" in a 20gal. But you WILL HAVE to stay on top of wc.

Four juvies about 2-3" is ok. Have to stay on top of wc. Anything bigger, i would not rec. Look for a used tank at your local CL or see if your local Petsmart or Petco have a $1/gal sale on tank?

Hi Anthony,

So you are adding the Kenny discus to a tank that already has fish in it?

If that's what you're intending to do, what type of fish do you already have in your main tank and how many of them do you have?

On the other hand, if you have a fresh new tank and want to simply start growing discus in it, then it is safe to add them to your main tank without a qt period since they are all being purchased at the same time and from just Kenny.

All of these are important questions to answer so that we can give you the proper advice on how and when to add your new discus to your main tank.

Yes you will have to quarintine.even when mixing hans and Kenny fish as both carry differant pathogens.after quarintine take one fish from each and put in tank together and see if they get sick if they fine you can intro duce them do the same with existing fish.thats how I do it.keep in mind to also quarintine plants as well as they absorb all kinds of nasties too.

I highly recommend this article, by the owner of this forum: http://discustoday.info/2014/02/20/what-is-quarantine-and-why-is-it-important/. Good luck.

Hey guys can I use water from my display tank to fill my qt up

It is best to use fresh, clean water.
