Hello all started my discus tank in November started with 3 inch discus from Hans. My discus are about 5 ". 3 still are not colored up they are a red scribbelt ,blue snakeskin and a turquoise they are showing red on upper and lower fins not on body. When they color up will it be a fast transformation to adult colors? Doing 3 times a week wc and water parameters are good. Thanks walt

To me it seemed like it happened in spurts. Also felt like staring at a pot of water waiting for it to boil. I'm glad that I made myself take pics about every 2-4 weeks throughout the first 9 months I had them; helps you to see that "pot" start to boil :P

Also, the more WC's, the better (my routine is close to yours b/c I do 60-70% change but only twice a week... but I'll be the first one to tell you that I should be doing more). What size tank? Why only 3? Definitely recommend getting more due to diluting bullying and reducing anxiety in groups 5-6 fish or greater (great excuse to get more!)

My tank is 120 gallons I have 10 discus but the 3 I'm talking seem to be taking a long time to color up

just hang in there walt. keep doing what you're doing and it'll happen. I have an old thread in the planted tank section somewhere and showed my RT's and VR's color development over the course of the thread (I think pics start on page 3). It'll show you how those ugly, plain, "blah" geese will turn into something else.
