NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I've just lost 10 megapixels and 40 horsepower on my camera, and this lens's image quality SUCKS now. At least the muggers will pass me by, a mere mortal without a red ring.








Kidding aside it is a bit of a frustration point especially given what these lenses cost. You have to replace the whole barrel to replace the red ring, and that costs $125....how about NOPE! Might affect resale value but that is about it I guess. Apparently after searching this is a common problem with this lens......for years now, at least since 2008. Gotta love when problems get fixed. I suppose it could happen to others as well. Just going to use a red rubber band.

The red ring snapped and popped off my 24-105mm L lens lol Given how some people worship a red ring I played it up as a gear malfunction.
