On the smartphone screen it looks like a red turquoise.

That would be pretty cool i figured it wasnt a royal red i already have a red turq and they have a similar pattern do red turqs get more red as they reach full size my bigger one i bought as a red turq is more of a yellowish gold will the yellowish gold turn more red with age?

In not asking about the sex im not worried about that im curious of the strain of the discus is cuz it was marked as a royal red but i know thats not what it is it might be a red turq but i really dont know

Don't get to hung up on the specific name. It's some type of Turq. The blue hue of the lighting is washing the color in the photo out a bit. Royal red, red turq....to me it's pretty much the same. Call it a red turq for now and see what happens when it gets a bit older. And yes, the yellow/orange/gold colored striations look like they should turn more red as the fish ages to me.

Sex? Who asked about the sex?

It's some type of, sorry, common Red / Blue Turquoise. A different picture, showing more of the fish with less of a closeup would help. Probably not a Royal.

It still looks like a decent fish and should grow out to be pretty nice looking.
