Bamboo as aquarium background.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if I can use bamboo on planters behind my aquarium to create a background for my 75g BB discus tank. Has anyone tried it? Species suggestions also welcome.

If you have space and able to pull out to break off dead leave, refill water, that works too. I thought about that and airplants when set up 300g tank but end up diy background outside back of the tank.
