Absolutely stunning. I am not sure why but I love white stands and this whole tank proves WHY, they just make everything look so clean.

This is one of the nicer tanks I have seen on here for a while. thank you for posting.

Do you happen to have a shot of the whole tank setup?

Beautiful biotopish scape and discus you got there Filip.
Your sterbai fish are also good looking and full grown .
I like the name of this thread too :).
How big and how old are discus approx. If you have info on this?
Is this your first time with discus or you had domestics previously and now you turn to wilds?

Good luck with your start and your discus fish and keep us posted with pics and info of this tank growup regularly.

Thanks ,

i previous had school of wild discus + altums. Even I got wild fry ( 3 month old ).

Discus are pretty same cca 12-14 cm, they are young fish, because all of them have small eyes.

For wilde one you can't know how they are old, but when i see small eyes i know they are young fishes .

yeah, that is exactly what I was looking for and I am glad I asked. That is one sweet setup. Did you build that custom or had it made? That light is pretty sweet as well.

well, this is awesome. Your whole tank set up is really clean and natural looking. is the wood positioned like that or is it just still floating from not being completely water logged? If it is just still floating you should try and make it stay like that permanently, it looks cool up at the top making shady areas in the tank.

Filip

Do you keep them in To water or just regular tap water?
What do you plan for your water change and feeding regime to be for grow out ?

woods are tied to the transverse reinforcement

i keep wild one in pure Revers osmosis water, because my tap water is very very hard ( Kh 24 , ph 8 )

kh 1, ph 6.4 - 6.6 , TDS cca 150ppm

water change are weakly 120 ltr, cca 31Gal

I feed them with : frozen artemia, frozem mysys, frozen krill

Tropical D-allio with garlic , tropical D50 plus

Im stunned that they eat flakes :), ussualy i had probblem to leard wild one to accept flakes and granulas

whole tank is hand made by mine friends and me.

hehhe još cemo i na Hrvatski pričati :)

I bought them in Budapest,Hungary. I order them and wait 3 month to come .

They are Uatuma Blue.

I check nitrate level and they are between 1-5 with JBL Nitrate NO3 test.

I use Lewatit MP300 Nitrate resin. Recommend to everyone

What does this Lewatit mp 300 resin do ?
It only strips the nitrates in water or something else along with it? Is it recharchible?

I use purigen , its said that it strips the organics out of water column. Is lewatit some similar product?

i had also purigen , but i didn't have nitrate baleow 20 ever.

Regardless of the low measurable No3 levels in your water i am a bit skeptical that your discus can get away unharmed with only a 30 % per week fresh water .
There are 12 of them plus some diether fish in a 90 gallon tank (you didnt mention the sump volume) , and thats a highest end concerning a bioload in 90 g. tank.
You might consider doing a bit more of a water changes , at least for this first couple of grow up months .

Congratulations. Absolutely stunning natural looking tank. Try feeding them some live food I guess they'll color up in no time. Good job.

Regarding volume of WC Heiko Bleher in his discus books interviews some wild discus keepers and 30-50% weekly is what they claim to do.

Filip Zebec
02-15-2016, 07:44 AM
I do 30% WC every 5-7 days. i think too much WC is stress for fish.

Do you guys think this WC practice that Heiko Bleher also mentioned should applies only to wild discus or in general for every discus?
