Hi All,

I have read loads on gill flukes, but one thing remains unclear to me.....

When gill flukes lay eggs, do they fall on the substrate or could there be any hosted within the fish itself?

Thanks,
Ian

Their life cycle is about a week. They drop their eggs in the substrate and in several days they hatch. They need to find a host or die.
