...so I've come to realize that building my stand for my 60gal may take a little longer than I'd like, since its going to take a number of days for to get it built/stained/sealed due to drying time. I am picking up a 20gal for my qt tank. I'm wondering- would it be advisable to run all my filters on my 20gal in the meantime to start cycling with safe start? I have a sunsun canister filter, a aquaclear 70, and a ati sponge that I'll be throwing into my 60.

I thought about using my 125gal since it's already cycled, but I want to avoid any cross contamination into the new tank.

I don't see why not , just be sure to keep your ammonia level at about 4PPM.

I used a 10g to cycle 2 aqueon quietflow 55/75s when I was keeping Mbunas.

edit: When I cycle filters I only install the media/bio-wheel that I want BB to grow on. When it is ready to be used on a tank with fish then I install the filter floss/sponge.
