I have cleaned and sterilized all contents of the 60g I lost my fish in. I am ready to get it going again and buy some new discus this weekend. I have my HOB filter cycled on anothe tank. So my question is this, when do I put the cycled filter on? Wait until fish are put in or earlier. Thanks

unless you know for sure it's a clean tank. Since you 're starting over and already sterilized the tank, i'll do fishless cycle. this way you'll know for sure it's a clean tank for new fish.

Why go through the trouble of sterilizing your tank and introducing seeded media from somewhere else?

I'd see if you can't get a cycled sponge filter or media from your discus source and skip moving your current hob.

If you do plan on moving a filter, do it at the same time you are adding fish... If you put the filter on an empty tank there is nothing there to feed the filter and you will loose the established goodies in there...

That statement "from another tank" raised the red flag. All the trouble you've gone through i'd recommend a fish less cycle. But it is your choice.

Not doing a fishless cycle. Going to buy a cycled sponge filter from AngelsPlus.
