With only having 14 fry can I grow them out to an inch in a 20g long or should I go a head and put them in a 40g breeder? 20g long sure would be easier on my ro unit.

Agreed, even if your water is super hard. With that few you should easily be able to grow them to an inch or more in a 20.

If I am not mistaken you had the fry free swimming some time mid January, they should have been in hard water by Mid february.Mine spawned this month and they already are in hard water.

I'll have to transition them slowly. Their current tank I keep at 120ppm.
