Anyone upgrade from a stand-along version of Lightroom to the Adobe Creative Cloud?

Pat, this question gets discussed a lot. I am not a huge authority but the short answer is that eventually all that will be offered is ACC. You don't have to upgrade but at some point upgrades to the stand alone will cease to be offered by Adobe. That means any new camera model (or lens, in lens correction) will not be supported nor will other updates. If you have LR5 then you won't have the new ability to use the LR6 HDR or Pano merge, both of which are quite good. Adobe has been pretty good (the LR6 upgrade that had to be walked back notwithstanding) at keeping LR current and stable. You do get PS as well and may feel you won't use it but you never know! The cloud portion itself is there but I don't use it for storage etc. However you can transfer stuff from your smartphone via the cloud and if you travel with a laptop and want to use the Cloud to transfer images to your home computer, that can be done as well.
People complain about the monthly fee; the biggest argument being that you are captive to Adobe, and they can raise the fee at any point. That I quess is true but so far is not an issue. Also if you are an Apple user, the latest version of LR6 does not play well with OS X El Capitan. That will get worked out I am sure but I have yet to update my Mac until the dust settles.
Having been let down by Apple and Aperture, which I used from 2007, I have to say I have been pretty happy with LR and have had no complaints moving to LR4 -> LR5 and now ACC LR6. The mechanics of moving to CC were no big deal for me and I think that it is even easier now that the product has been around a while. Unless you are unhappy in general with LR and are considering other editing programs, I would say make the move.

Thanks Stan and I have been thrilled with LR. I am actually using LR6 now and understand that ACC is at LR6 now. I also understand that ACC LR will accept the current LR Catalog I have (forward compatible). However I also understand the the ACC is a separate install so perhaps best to uninstall my current version of LR.

Not sure you have to uninstall what you have. I think you just get the subscription and download.

Thanks Stan, I think I will install the ACC and then see what is installed afterwards. Can uninstall anytime. :D Thanks for the links. I will check those out.

You mean Photoshop Ricardo? I'm sure it will be a totally confusing mess for me.

Is it only Photoshop or is it the Adobe suite they give you access to?

I actually have not upgraded yet but think it is LR and PS only.

Either way, it is more than capable of doing great things.
