Water cycle question.

When I cycled my first discus tank... I followed the general rules of cycling. I am about to set up a grow out tank... If I am using media from a previous tank... And will do 90% water changes why would I wait a couple of months before adding fish? Can't I add fish in a few days?

If you are moving fish from the same tank the media from from the same tank will work.Same day transfer of fish and media will be fine. With daily 90% water changes the filter will able to keep up with the bio load.

No I am buying new fish... Starting a new tank but using old media.

If your bio-media still contains active bacteria, it will be fine to use for new fish. I have done this many times.
