Meet up with some of the local camera club members for a shootout in Lakeland. We started at Mirror Lake and ended up at Florida Southern College to photograph the Frank L. Wright architecture. The architecture photos were definitely a stretch for me.

Lake Mirror

This female mallard only had one duckling with her. I found the rest of the ducklings in a storm drain.

Called the local fire department and they came and released the ducklings from the storm drain. The little ones were happy to get back to mom.

These two were in the midst of courtship.

Wow, rough area?? Normal weekend routine? ;) ;) ;)

But really, great photos. You have birds on lock Pat! Better than I could hope to do with them I feel like. One day I'll get some glass that can actually do bird shots and try it.

Thanks John, had lunch at Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille. That should sound familiar. :)

Thanks Matt, the birds shots are really coming together. Lakeland doesn't seem to be a rough area!! More of a hometown feel really.

These following shots are examples of the Frank L. Wright architecture so these are a stretch for me plus we are shooting late morning.

A member let me try her fisheye lens. Fun little lens. This shot is a bit noisy. This is in one of the chapels.

Some of the grounds.

Yes, one bush is in the way. Meeting of building and sky.

The sky was really gorgeous.

Pat, here's a recommendation, use numbers so we can reference to some of them :)

This is an example of a very minimalist shot, but a very well captured and framed shot. I love taking these type of shots where most people would simply just walk by and never even think of taking a pic of it. Really like that one:

OMG, the birds...I would 'bout sell my soul to be able to take pics like the ones of the birds.

Mama duck seemed content having just one baby. I bet she was happy to see the rest of them back with her. How many were in the storm drain? Did they all survive?

Love Frank Loyd Architecture. We have a few houses in the area, never knew he did churches.

Any picture of the fire department rescue Pat?

I really like that shot too Ricardo. Simple but very effective. :D Also look at the lower right side of the photos Ricardo. I left the filename of the camera. That should work as a identifier. :)

Thanks Liz, getting a little better as I go. :D Mama duck was extremely worried about her other ducklings. There were seven in the storm drain and they all were joined with mom. Happy ending. :D:D

Some of the other members took pictures of the rescue Rick. Not sure I can share them.

Learned about the radial and graduated filters in Lightroom last night in the local camera club meeting. Pretty cool stuff. Went from this.

Very nice Pat. Filters are great sometimes to make something pop. I like both versions. Either one could technically been "how it looked in real life", so both work for me.
