I get why you photo hounds choose the first and last as your favorites, but I'm really drawn to the facial expression in the second shot. I really like Aurelia's hair in the last one too. Hmm, consistently drawn to the pretty young woman, some things never change.

Indeed they don't Keith. :D

Here are some of the reasons for choosing a few of the shots I did.

First: Both the horse and Aurelia are looking at me but also Aurelia is rather aware of me taking the photo.
Second: Shows the relationship between horse and rider. Bucky is relaxed and Aurelia is pleased with him.
Third: Bucky is trying to please his rider and both are focused on the task at hand.
Fourth: Based on the expression in Aurelia's face Bucky missed a cue.
Fifth: Because I liked it. Shows power and purpose.

That makes for a more compelling image compared to the static ones, to my eye anyway.
You might try that shot in less harsh light.
The above image you could darken the BG with a highlight slider and exposure slider. Panned shots almost always need a bit more contrast to the RAW image than you would normally add.

I like it; makes the horse and rider stand out more. I like the ponytail, horsetail symmetry, and the movement in the hooves all while the rider and horse head are sharp.
