Ricardo challenged me a bit ago to practice in-camera cropping which means the picture is not cropped as part of post processing. All these photo's are from this past weekend.

I was also practicing birds in flight and believe these are called "high key" where the background is white.

Well, mostly white

This is quite a stunning shot. I wish I would have taken it myself. Just a little advice, remove those 2 white items in the background by cloning. They are distracting and unnecessary. Once you do that, get that printed. The lighting on that subject is absolutely gorgeous!

Great job with in camera cropping. It forces you to think before you hit that shutter and in reality improves workflow as you have eliminated the need to do too much PP now that you don't have to crop. The only disadvantages to this technique is that sometimes you crop in too close and don't allow yourself enough room to make the subject more interesting in case you missed your "shot" SOC.

The first and last shots could be considered high key. I would almost say to increase the exposure just a tad for a better example of high key. The first shot shows some weird moire. Try to use your moire reducer on LR if there is an option for it.

Think I got rid of the moire. Took a bit more then the moire slider (hidden under the adjustment brush).

Different pose but same bird. There was a slight crop with this one.

Should square crop this one with the two white things bookending the subject and send a print to Ricardo. Or hand deliver at NADA ;)

I think I'm partial to that green heron on the decking. Really like those.

 funny man. Actually, a tighter crop from the left would give this subject good room on the right which might make it a nice tighter shot.

Print me that and I'd hang it on my wall! There are so many things right with this shot The subject interest, the great bokeh, the rich vibrant colors, the lack of those 2 white blobs, lol.
