How do you clean the algae from foam filter tube ?

I use a fishing line or string to tie a small sponge which fits the tube. Leave both ends of fishing line longer to tube, the tie 1 end to a small weight or something. Drop small weight end to the tube and pull it from other end. Now sponge inside the tube, just pull it back and forth.

Looks like a job for a bleach dip to me.
The method Tony has mentioned works well for straight tubes but won't do much for those hard to reach areas.

I second that. Those tight crevices are near impossible to reach. Sometimes can get a bottle brush through there. Bleach bath is simple and works pretty quickly

ding ding ding it is how I do mine. Sometimes my Marineland tube brush will work but bleach ALWAYS works. In a pinch I've used straight peroxide it works also

Anything I bleach bath I give a prime bath after just to be safe

I just air dry in the sun, Sun kills Chlorine. I understand the caution.

That works too. I own a pool business. All too familiar of the effects of uv on chlorine
