Hi everybody,
I purchased pure metro from Jemco just to have in case I need it. The dosage says 1 level teaspoon per 164 gallons or 1/4 teaspoon for 41 gallons. If I use a 10 gallon hospital tank do I really use 1/16 of a teaspoon ?Just want to make sure😊

The most common dosage recommended is 500mg per 10 gallon. Best to use a gram scale for accurate measurement. Also if treating discus best to use a 20 gallon for treatment. A 10 gallon is really too small for discus.

I have used a 10 gallon tank for a few times and I changed 90 percent of the water daily and retreat with medication. I have been successful in getting my sick fish back to good health. I will however look into a 20 galion if you think it is necessary.
I will also look for a gram scale on amazon.
Thank you very much Pat
By the way they only get sick when I have to leave town for vacationow, there is always one

This is the scale I have been using for a while. Good quality for the price.

By the way I measured 1/4 teaspoon of pure metro (from Angelsplus) over and over and it weighs 725mg. This means that the dosage of 1/4 tsp per 40 gallons given in the instructions works out to 180mg per 10 gallons... quite a bit less than the 400mg to 500mg per 10g often recommended.

Before I got the scale I measured small amounts by dissolving 1/4 teaspoon into a cup of warm/hot water and then dividing out 1/4 cup of the solution for 10g tank, or 1/2 cup of the solution for a 20g tank. Wasteful, but oh well.

to finish the math...

If you want to treat with dosage of 500mg per 10g, you would dissolve 1/4 tsp into 1 cup of hottish water, then use 5.5 fluid ounces of the solution for 10g tank.
