i'm interested in purple discus, i've seen pictures of a "strain" called violet reflection but haven't heard of anyone selling them within the past ten years.

was this strain lost? any ideas what the genetics were? i know some less reputable dealers will feed cobalts large amounts of astaxanthin to produce a purplish fish temporally but i'm wondering about a naturally purple or violet discus. i have a breeding project and i'd like to try something new.

thanks SD!

This is the closest I came to a purple. It is a Stendker flachen that I got from Hans back in 2012. It's natural color is what I would call a violet. Hans told me that the flachen's ranged from green to this tint but the violet occured less than the green. If I has found another female the color of this male I would have loved to breed them and see what the outcome would be but alas no female.
